Chrome removal/blackout on '21 Grand Cherokee L Summit Reserve

Hi, everyone. First post here!

We've been waiting on our SR order for a while now, but it finally seems like it will be here within the next day or so. It's a fully-loaded Grand Cherokee L Summit Reserve in Red Velvet Pearl. We love everything about the car, with the exception of all the chrome.

Are there companies/vendors that sell blacked out parts for grill and other trim areas? There are obviously Grand Cherokees from the factory that come blacked out, but I have yet to see that in an L (maybe have to wait for a Trail Hawk edition). If the parts aren't readily available, if someone can provide some suggestions on getting it done, I would appreciate it. I know in the past I've switched a bunch of Mustang trim to change it from regular chrome to black chrome, but I had to send those pieces out of state, and they were fairly small. Something the size of a grill would be a bit more difficult to ship. ;)

I believe the summit and summit reserve are more of a matte silver than chrome… looks great imo, just got the summit in white with black roof, tan interior, I want those reserve rims tho! Lol

All the chrome and piano black doesn't say "luxury" to me, so I'm with you - I'll be looking for ways to black out the chrome and matte out the piano black....

There’s another thread on here with all of the part numbers for the black trim pieces. I ordered a few but some of them were cancelled because everything is sold out. I plan to order all of them when demand is lower and supply is up but until then I’m having all the chrome pieces wrapped.

We got the our JGCLSR on Saturday and love it. The brushed aluminum is definitely better than chrome, but we still want to black it out. I've found some grill parts (inserts and rings), but when I select the set of both, Amazon says it no longer fits my vehicle (just the inserts, do).

The company was Astra Depot, so I wrote them to ask if it's just not updated on Amazon, or if they have another kit for our vehicles. I also asked if they had the other stuff, like handles, emblems, etc.

The one piece that may prove tough is that long, aluminum-painted piece on the front bumper. I may just get that professionally painted.

Do you have a link to the thread? I don't see it (at least in this sub-channel).

Can't seem to edit my last post, but I "think" this is the thread:

An easy option that isn’t temporary is plasti dip… does the job… I know it’s not the greatest but in small pieces it looks pretty decent

I've read a lot about it, I've just never played with it. I have a can I bought a few years back. My major concern is that I live off a dirt road... about 1.5 miles in/out of the neighborhood. I can't see plastidip lasting too long.

I was also looking at the silver trim along the roof. I can't see anything besides vinyl for that. Is vinyl application easy to do? I can't see paying someone a boatload of money to do it for me...

Pulls some videos up on YouTube, I think you will be happy enough with results especially for like $6/can or whatever it costs, you can always peel it right off after say 6 months and spray a few more coats, comes off completely clean, I’ve done rims and badges… lettering logos and some chrome pieces in different cars… and was always happier with results than I thought I would be… just know that you have to apply enough layers for it to peel off cleanly… one of the best parts is you can spray it on stuff and it separates itself wherever there is a natural break… again I’m not stating this is better than vinyl or paint job by any means… but it does the job, doesn’t look crappy it’s cheap and removable

Cool. I will play around with it a bit first. I've never been *amazing* with any rattle can, so I'm skeptical... lol.

Still, I'm pinning some big hopes on getting as much OEM stuff as possible.

I was able to identify all the Altitude black parts except the two trim pieces on the underside of the side view mirrors. If anyone knows what they are please let me know!

Can you tell me which parts on the Summit Reserve are 'brushed' vs 'polished chrome'? I'm toying with brushed vs blacked out to get rid of my polished chrome on my Overland.

As far as I know, there are no bright/shiny chrome pieces. They're all flat/brushed aluminum.

Some are painted, so are more of a gray/aluminum with slight gloss... but no actual chrome (thank God).

You might wanna hold out a bit. We are about to start ordering some pieces, and may have these as takeoffs if you want to buy them.

So you're saying the trim surround along the window line is also a brushed finish?

I might be interested in that and the grille, etc, still debating. It would blend on my silver car the way black blends on the black cars, so it's a thought to go that way vs black.

Just ordered from the grille circles on down. Will order the rest of the stuff on a later date.

Would love to know what the part numbers for the mirror pieces are, too.

Also not seeing the rings around the exhaust.

Where’d you order the “under spoiler” parts from? Everywhere I order them from the order ends up being cancelled because they’re out of stock.
