33" BFG's on OEM 20's

How is the tire clearing the steering knuckle and ball joint stem? Seemed the only way to accomplish going to bigger tires was new wheels with negative offset or spacers.

NO clearance issues (y)
I’m not trying to stir the pot but there is no way those are 33’s and I’d hate to see folks buying 33s and being in for a big surprise. Jeep looks sick and I hope you bust out a picture of the sidewall proving me wrong but I believe a 31.9” diameter is pretty much the absolute max you can run without a new rim with an aggressive offset. 33” BFG ATs run at a 32.5” diameter. Honestly I hope I’m wrong cause that would be great news!

I’ve been running 305/40-22’s on 22x10.5 +35mm offset Velgen forged wheels and these tires measure 31.8” tall. I have .2” clearance between the tire and the steering arm (see pic). Don’t want to bust any bubbles but there’s no way to run a 33” tire, especially on oem 20” rims. NO WAY 😡😡

Do you have a picture of your Jeep with Velgen wheels?

I can't see how 33's could possibly fit. Those are either not 33's, or something is different on this car (spacers, but doesn't look like it).

You can see the knuckle clears in the photos, though. But, the closer you get to those, the more snow, ice, mud and rocks are going to get thrown directly into that suspension component. It will be interesting to see how that design holds up over time as more people play the 'how close can I get' game.

Looks like the same clearance I have with my 305/40R-22s (31.8” tall). 16” measured from bottom of steering knuckle (Just below the pinch bolt) to center of hub.

Assuming these are 275/55R20 tires.

The BFG All-Terrain T/A KO2 and Trail-Terrain T/A tires in that size are 31.9" in diameter.

I know when I bought my wife her Jeep there was very little info available, still is, on what larger tire would fit. After much measuring I opted for the Velgen 22x10.5 rims and the 305/40 rubber. Initially I only purchased one tire and had it mounted so I could test fit it & check clearances on the front. Figured if it caused any issues that I’d only be eating the cost of one tire and not the full set.

What’s unnerving about posts like this stating that a 33” BFG fits without issues is potential buyers may look at these posts and go for it. They spend a bunch of $$ on tires, possibly new wheels and then ........

Hey guys just so you know there was someone on the forum that was able to get 33 inch tires to fit. I’m sure the exact diameter was closer to 32.5 or 32.6 but most people round that up to 33. He did mention a decent amount of cutting around the pinch weld but I don’t believe he had a negative offset (around +1 if memory serves me)

Yeah he is running a 0 offset with a good bit of trimming. I think we can all safely say that the jeep in the first post isn't running 33's so if you're in the market, don't get excited about running 33's on stock rims.
