3.6L Oil leak

Just at 6 months with 10K miles and changing the oil the first time. There is oil dripping everywhere before I have removed the drain plug. The fabric under the engine is soaked.
Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a thread discussing this?

Drained and measured the amount of oil. Only recovered 4 quarts. It is possible that some of that was eaten by the engine. I assume this is the same engine that is in the Vans. I have not seen a leak or oil loss before with this engine.

I have cleaned up the leaked oil. Retightened the plug and will check it in a few days. Maybe it was spilled at the factory...

Over tightening the oil filter cap, using two orings on the cap, or other debris in threads will cause the filter housing to crack. It’s all plastic and has a minimal torque rating.

If you pull the engine cover off and look down below the filter housing, you can see it leak from above

Had a Durango that got the oil filter cap over torqued and caused a massive oil leak. Oil go as far back as covering the transmission pan it was a disaster.
