Did you guys have any issues with TPMS? I've been waiting for Tirerack to get tpms sensors for the L's and they finally do so I'm ready to buy. They're apparently made by Continental. I'm hoping they'll work like OEM and just "learn" normally, but can't find anybody who's used any aftermarket sensors yet.
no brainerWhy wouldn't you use the OEM tpms?
Yes, tirerack will be doing the mounting, and they won't use the OEM sensors. My local guy will charge me 50 bucks a tire to put in the sensors if I get oem... Neither of the two big box stores near me will put in somebody else's TPMS sensors... The Rims that I want are only available at tirerack... So I'm kinda screwed, but Tirerack says the ones they have should work exactly like the oems.I didn't want the headache of aftermarket so I went oem. Is tire rack mounting your tires and wheels for you? I'm not sure why else you wouldn't use the oem sensors. 😅
Also, I'm fairly certain that you and I are in the same geographical location. I usually drive down to Delaware and pick up my tires from tire rack.

Yes! I was planning on driving down to New Castle to get them there Sadly I'll be heading down to MD for Xmas, but their DC will be closed, so I'll have to wait till my next trip down...
$50 just to put in the sensors or to do the whole mounting and balancing? I took everything (tires, wheels, tpms) to my tire shop and they did it all for $45/tire so $180. So you could always buy them separately and have them installed at a shop with the oem tpms. In all my research people were saying aftermarket is buggy and works for a few miles here and there or not at all. I'm quite anal about my tire pressure so I wanted tpms that work.
Or you could take the chance on the tire rack sensors and hopefully they work. Otherwise you may have to swap them out for oem anyway. 😅
You are paying for a balance also. They have to balance them after putting in new tpms.Yeah that's what they charge to open the tire and put it back together. So I guess they'd probably charge me the same if I just had them do the TPMS or if they mounted an balanced too. I've got some time before I go back down to md so I'll have to think about it.
