18 City 25 HWY MPG... what a joke

Alright fellas... love my GCL, but talk about bait and switch. With around 1K miles driven since purchase i'm getting around 16mpg... mostly dallas subarban driving where there are no real traffic back ups and 45mph speed limit.

I'm feeling a little duped by jeep. While i've not taken a hwy trip yet, I cant speak to highway mpg. Has anyone hit MPG numbers for GCL as advertised? I'm extremely disappointed.

Going to work I average 17mpg. 40 mph local roads with few stops and a short drive on a 55mph highway. 10 mile drive, No traffic and maybe 3-4 red lights. Driving on i90 in NY we get 21-22mpg going 75. On 55mph highways I can get to 24mpg but it drops noticably once you pass 65mph.

I'm currently getting 21-ish overall, Limited 4x4. However I did record 18mpg on my previous fill-up and did more city driving.

Averaging 18 mpg on a Limited V6 with city miles and hwy miles split close to even. I drive over 65 mph a good bit.

I'm getting about 15 MPG which is disappointing. Guess next time, I get the HEMI. Can't be much worse than that - LOL!

Yours looks pretty good to me. We have a v6 overland and get ~13mpg city.

I have both 6.4L and 8.4L vehicles. The 6.4L is MDS, which uses 4 cylinders when not gunning it, and the 8.4L, well, that's a gas guzzler at all times but does get better MPG than the 13 city stated. So I'm thinking lead foot somewhere.

I didn’t an experiment and increased my mileage by about 2 per gallon city running ethanol free gas but I’m not sure that the cost vs benefit works out at about 50c more per gallon

I'm averaging 15MPG mixed. When I reset it and did highway long drive with cruise control I got about 18MPG Highway. GCL V8

I'm at like 15 or so city driving and 19-21 highway around 77 mph. I have the v6

Mine is the summit reserve so I'm sure the extra weight or the 275 tires don't help.

Pfff. I have a V8 and I'm getting 13 mpg just doddering around town (not driving hard.) I got around 15 on my 1500 mile delivery trip, but after 500 miles varying speed for break-in, I was in the 80-90 mph range most of the time. I wish this thing had a diesel option... Making me wish I'd bought a diesel Tahoe looking at my fuel gauge.

A few months ago, I averaged about 21 mixed driving with my v6. Lately, I'm averaging about 19 mixed driving. I assume the drop in mpg is due to the colder temperatures and reformulated winter gas.

According to https://fueleconomy.gov/FEG/coldweather.shtml
Cold weather and winter driving conditions can reduce your fuel economy significantly.
Fuel economy tests show that, in city driving, a conventional gasoline car's gas mileage is roughly 15% lower at 20°F than it would be at 77°F. It can drop as much as 24% for short (3- to 4-mile) trips.

I agree with MPG dropping with colder temps... my gripe is has anyone ever hit the MPG as advertised?

I'd he happy to hit those numbers.

what's mileage on your GCL. Some have experienced improved MPG at around 3K+ miles

When you look at the window sticker and see the gas mileage stats, always assume it states "22 city 26 highway" with very small print that states "when going down hill with the and behind your back". I'm pushing 60, I average two new vehicles every three years -- and I have NEVER achieved the posted feel mileage. We also we a MB GLE450 -- it has a 6 cylinder/hybrid set up. And surprisingly it averages around 20 in the city. But.. it does run on the battery when it's charged. In ten years, we'll all be barking about the posted range on our vehicles, and how we can't ever get 400 miles on a charge :) .

OK, so my first fill-up exceeding the 3K mile mark. Improved from 14.6 to 16 MPG. Since then, I put on another 100 miles and it looks promising. I'll keep you guys updated but I think there might be some truth behind this 3K mile mark...
