It looks like the FOTA is pushing already!

Yes I just got a notification on the screen. I did not push the update button and just parked and left it. When I came back 15 minutes later it had the new version number under System Information. I currently do not have access to CarPlay, Sirius, off road pages and it’s very slow in responding. I assume it’s still updating? Who knows. There’s no indication of what it’s doing. I’m just going to let it set overnight and see what happens.

@JeepCares says is takes up to 2 days to update. I am thinking all of the apps time to update after the operating system does.

Mine restarted the radio and began updating while in the middle of a 200mi drive without the chance to skip it. Not sure why that happened. Also frustrating that the changelog that was offered was empty.

Looks like it has fully updated this morning after letting it sit overnight. Sirius, CarPlay and Off-Road pages are all on there now. Haven't noticed anything different or any better performance. Switching between climate, media, home still has a bit of lag time. Off-Road pages have a lighter background now which makes it harder to see the information on the screen.

I wouldnt count on it fixing it. I had it done last week at the dealer and Im still having the same Carplay issues. Working with the dealer on what the next step is.

I just got an update on the radio about the pending over the air update. I messaged dealer to see if maybe when they did the recall it didnt update for some reason. They said the recall was related to the backup camera only. My understanding was the recall was on the uconnect system in general. They told me to let it run and see what happens after.

Hello everyone,

You'd be correct! As of this morning, the FOTA has been released and has begun t0 rollout. As @PRspawn stated, the update will bring your software level to R17.89. Since our teams have shared these helpful tips on various public threads, we wanted to share the same information here so that it's easily available to all of you.

Following Software Update:
  • May have to re-pair phones, reset your radio station presets, or delete & re-pair your Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connection.
  • Connected services and apps may work intermittently for up to 48 hours following your update completion. This is because it takes longer for the more technologically advanced radios to fully update and sync every part of the radio.
Deep Sleep Mode We recommend customers wait about 40 minutes with their vehicle OFF (and with key fobs away from vehicle). This allows the radio to enter a "deep sleep" mode which mitigates the chances of any interruptions during the download process.
App-Over-The-Air (AOTA) will trigger, which refreshes internal radio apps. Some of these services include your WiFi hotspot, remote demands through the Uconnect App, etc.

HVAC takes at least 2 ignition cycles to re-learn the configuration, so it may be possible to experience HVAC/Climate Control setting concerns as your Uconnect fully reconfigures. Reach out if you need anything!

@JeepCares I got a warning that Uconnect update failed. Guess I’ll keep my appointment for 10/18 at the dealer. I had it set for WiFi update so maybe the signal was weak. I’ve unchecked it for now to see if it will update via cellular.

Tonight I received a further update. I'm now at version FCA-MY21.R17.99-PROD
It offered a "What's New" for a moment but disappeared before I could click and read it. If anyone has those notes, I think a few of us here would be interested. @JeepCares ??
