I totally get it, this is the first model year and all that entails with the GCL. That said I’m not sure I want to to be a 66k Jeep Beta tester.
I don’t have the time or inclination to sort through the various glitches that appear to be rampant with the L. I have not made up my mind but it sure is unnerving to $pend that much for a problem plagued vehicle.
I plan on a very serious face to face with my dealer prior to finalizing this purchase. Thoughts?

Well, I think you are over reacting. From everything I have been reading, people are finding little things, but Jeep is taking care of things. Get a good service contract and you can cya. On another Jeep vehicle, with service contract, I had them fix everything that went wrong, even a valve job at 50K miles was covered.
For me, personally, the GCL is a sweet spot of tech/comfort/off road chops. I am willing to put up with a few glitches for that.

Agreed - Jeep took a great leap forward and got a hardcore JK guy like myself to stay in-brand, sell my beloved Sahara, and try their new vehicle. I love it immediately. As for glitches, they are common in new models, and like Eki said: I am sure Jeep will make it right, they want people to want Jeeps forever. As for a serious face-to-face with your dealer, what is that going to accomplish? Dealers don't build GCLs - they just want sales. If anything, I'm happy the glitches seem to be consistent rather than different for everyone. I take those issues as ones Jeep will address widely.

Points taken and I agree …..up to a point. If my dealer steps up to the plate and seriously addresses all these glitches all will be fine. If not …. Oh well guess I will have chosen the wrong dealer. Guess if all else fails I can try a different dealer. This of course would be the case with any manufacturer .

I will say this: I purchased Max Care (75k/6yrs) because of all tech involved, and I never buy extended warranties. Paid about 1100 w/200 deductible. I figure one major repair outside of the factory period covers my spending. Good luck with your purchase! Don't let the stress of buying ruin the enjoyment of actually driving a great car!

I spent $70k in 2019 on the new Ram 1500. First 3 months were bug hell. Once they worked them all out the truck has been rock solid. I would think the same will happen here. Give it time to work them out and it will be a great vehicle!

What have been the bugs that stand out in particular? I just purchased a 21 GC-L Limited that has a tow package and luxury-tech package on it. I actually got it used with 4,000 miles on it. I was told they addressed some recalls that were on it, evidenced by the Carfax report at the Jeep dealer, but I am curious as to what bugs I should look for when I take it in for a first service visit (barring I don't have something hit me first). Thanks for any info here!

Yea I think all of us who got this vehicle early caught all the little glitches and bugs. I would hope that most if not all of what we have gone through since it’s release they are fixing before delivery. I understand being among the first to purchase a new vehicle from a new facility there will be some difficulty’s.

It's a good deal. We got the unlimited mi./years on an"09 wk for 900 front diff and a transfer case came out to 6,000. Got a new 2021 wk2 with extended, warranty and maintenance.

I just cancelled my order for the same types of concerns. I am not paying over $60k for anything less than absolute perfection. I should not have to lift one finger or deal with any trips to the dealership or other inconveniences of any type for that price. Some may be ok with being beta testers at that cost, I am not.

Given my experience, I wish I had waited. I've had an enormous amount of problems. With all the issues, the stop sale, and the more powerful, more efficient I6 twin turbo hybrid coming out soon (probably 2023 model), I would wait a year for the issues to be resolved and the new motor to prove itself a bit. The engine has been in development for over a decade, so hopefully it's well-engineered at this point. Given all of the above, though, the depreciation on 2021-22 models might be really bad, too.

It's a phenomenal package with regard to packaging, luxury content, and combination of off and on road capability - an American Range Rover, really. But so far it is not measuring up to reliability expectations, especially for cars in the $60k+ price point. And the 'ARR' label is what they're after with the Wagoneer, and the higher GC trims. Lucky for them, Range Rover hasn't exactly set a high bar for reliability, either.

The inline-6 isn't coming to the Grand Cherokee yet... it will be in the Wagoneer.

Bummer. But that would be a better strategy in terms of 'testing', due to smaller volume. And that thing needs better fuel economy more than just about any other non-performance model there is.
