installed factory Tow hitch receiver this week

I installed the Mopar Tow hitch receiver this week on my 2021 GCL. I have to say it was slightly easier than I thought but you need 2 people. I followed the E trailer video for one of the aftermarket hitches. And use the plug and play T harness E trailer offered for approx. 100.00 dollars. All together took approx. 5 hrs. and a minimum amount of tools you will also need some inexpensive plastic trim removal tools . The Mopar hitch seems slightly easier to mount than aftermarket due to the fact you use exiting weld nuts and just bolt it right up. But if you order a Mopar hitch you need to order the kit with extra bolts a stiffing sleeves it list separately. Although it turned out well I'm still very upset with jeep lying to me that it was installed on my truck and now only have a flat pin trailer hook up. Eventually if I decide to keep the truck I will install the correct OEM harness. Good Luck

Did you hook up the wiring harness to the battery terminal under the Drivers seat? Or in the engine compartment?

It’s a t harness, 4 pin. You don’t need to all the way to the battery just the tail lights
The instruction tell you to bring it up the the battery for power Im sure I could have found 12 v somewhere else . The kit I used needed a 12 v power and ground

How did you get into the engine bay through the front firewall? I hooked up my hitch wiring to the main battery under the drivers seat. Not sure why the instructions does not recommend that given it's the easier solution.

Does it come with a cutout plastic panel to replace the one you removed? Or do you have to leave it all exposed? I was thinking of ordering just a factory hitch (I don’t need the wiring), but my dealer can’t figure out if the cutout panel comes with the hitch.

Did you mean the bumper cover in front of the hitch?

I loosened the passenger side front wheel well and ran it behind The fender and into engine compartment.

My truck came from the factory with the cut-out bumper and tow package installed. But no receiver or wiring.

I guess I should have said “cutout bumper cover”. From the factory, they have that. I haven’t been able to figure out if that cover is available to purchase.
